Which dryer cord do I need?
Choosing the correct dryer cord can be confusing, especially if it is your first time purchasing a washer and dryer set, or replacement
dryer online! At American Appliance, we are here to simplify the process.
What you need to know: There are 2 types of dryer cord styles for your new 240V electric dryer: 3-prong and 4-prong.
This refers to what your dryer outlet looks like. If you have a 3-prong outlet, this means there are 3 holes on the outlet into where the
dryer cord plugs into. If you have a 4-prong outlet, this means there are 4 holes on the outlet into where the dryer cord plugs into.
If you have a gas dryer, this means you have a standard 110V-115V outlet and a gas line that the dryer requires.
Refer to the last picture below as a reference.
If you're purchasing online, we will ask you if you need a 3 or a 4-prong dryer cord. This helps us to make it easy and save time on your
upcoming delivery day. We will wire your dryer with the correct cord for your home so that it's ready to be used immediately.
If you're placing an order over the phone, just let your sales representative which cord is right for you and we will update your order.
Note: If you're installing new electrical in your laundry room, by multiple states law the code for your new 240V dryer outlet is 4-prong.
